Production
The sequel Thor: The Dark World was directed by Alan Taylor
and produced by Kevin Feige, and produced by the companies Marvel Entertainment
and Marvel Studios. Here, we have the two main protagonists Chris Hemsworth and
Natalie Portman who play Thor and Jane. This sequel was filmed in many
locations such as Iceland for many of the scenes, Surrey, London, and Wiltshire.
In July 2013, it was told that the film was about to head into reshoots this
was explained that it was all a part of the "Marvel process" saying,
"We're doing full scenes, scenes that were not in the movie before. We're
adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time.
The budget for this film was a $150 million budget, which astonishingly
brang in $268 million in foreign markets. Earning $181 million in America and
$449 million worldwide.
For the post production of this film its visual effects were
completed by seven special effects studios, including Double Negative and Luma
Pictures. This toke so many different studios to capture the theme of a heroic
and marvel comic atmosphere. As well as having special effects on the movie it
also has its own music soundtrack where, Azam Ali will be a featured vocalist
on the CD. The soundtrack is scheduled to be released digitally on October 28,
2013.
The Dark World premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square
London on October 22nd. Its worldwide release on October 30, 2013,
and is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2013, in the United States.
Distribution
In March 2013, Marvel announced the release of a two-issue
comic book prelude by writers Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost and artist Scot
Eaton in June 2013 about the sequel to Thor , this being a great sneak peak and
way to engage the audience and let them know about the synopsis of the story.
The marketing has decided to do a synergy with Disney who
announced plans to promote the film with an attraction at Disneyland. The
attraction called "Treasures of Asgard", located next to the Stark
Industries exhibit inside Tomorrow land, is scheduled to open on November 1,
2013 and will feature displays of Asgardian relics and transport guests to
Odin's throne room, where they will be greeted by Thor.
