Production
There are 3 stages involved in producing a film - Pre-Production, Production and Post Production.
- Pre-Production is the stage where all the planning for the project takes place. At this stage, the production is broken down into individual scenes, during this process the location, props, cast members, costumes, special and visual effects are noticed. This is also when the script is written and also a important schedule is made with all the arrangements made for the people to be available for the film-making at the correct times.
- Production is where the filming is carried out. Scenes planned in pre-production are filmed at specific locations. Each scene is then done multiple times to ensure that the best quality film will be produced. All necessary shots are taken, as it can be a struggle to go back or repeat certain scenes.
- Post-Production is where the film is assembled by the editor. The editor must build a rough cut from a scene based on individual shots. This is done to select and order the best shots. A fine cut is created by getting all shots to flow smoothly into a story, also the music, graphics, menus etc are added. After all this has been approved by the director and producers the picture is 'locked' as no further changes are made.
