Kevin Feige was the producer of both Thor and Thor: The Dark World. As an extremely successful American film producer his films have a combined worldwide box office gross of $8.3 billion in addition to his role as the President of Production at the world famous Marvel Studios, having previously worked on such phenomenons as the X-Men movies.


Alan Taylor


Alan Taylor is an American television and film director, producer, screenwriter and most significantly the director of Thor: The Dark World.  Currently hired as the director of Terminator (2015), Taylor's career is catapulting into success.






Budget
Following the big budget prequel, Thor, Thor: The Dark World had a huge budget of $150 million earning $181 million state side and $449 million worldwide making it a huge success. 

Cast
Chris Hemsworth returns to the lead role of Thor after his exceptional performance in the first instalment.








Natalie Portman, famous for her role in Black Swan, returns to the role of Jane Foster.
Christopher Eccleston, famous for playing Doctor Who, plays Malekith the Accursed
Kat Dennings, famous for her role in American sitcom 2 Broke Girls, plays Darcy Lewis.
Jaimie Alexander plays Sif.
Idris Elba plays Heimdall
Anthony Hopkins plays the role of Odin
Zachary Levi plays the role of Fandral

In April 2013, Marvel released the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World.  


In July, Tom Hiddleston introduced footage from the film to audiences in character at the San Diego Comic-Con. 


In July, Gamecroft announced that a mobile video game would be released. This is an example of cross media convergence. 





In August 2013, Marvel released the second trailer of Thor:The Dark World as part of Youtube's Geek Week, producing a 150 second trailer. Producer Kevin Feige and cast members Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins presented additional footage at the Disney Studio's. Disney announced plans to promote the film with an attraction at Disneyland, Paris. 
Release
 The Dark World premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on October 30, 2013.

It was also internationally premiered on October 30th.

 The Dark World is scheduled to be released on November 8th, 2013, in the US.
The Dark World will be screened at all major cinemas in the UK.

Formats
IMAX Corporation and Marvel Entertainment announced that the film would be digitally re-mastered into the IMAX 3D
 format and released into IMAX 3D theatres internationally beginning October 30, 2013.
Audience


The target audience for Thor: The Dark World was young adults and teenagers in addition to comic book fans or people who like action films. 
Synergy
Lego teamed up with Marvel to release a new edition of Lego in conjunction with the release of Thor: The Dark World.
Leading up to the release of the film, several products were released too promote it. Merchandise such as snapbacks, t-shirts, phone cases etc can still be found.

Production , Distribution and Exhibition of Thor : The Dark World .


 

Production

The sequel Thor: The Dark World was directed by Alan Taylor and produced by Kevin Feige, and produced by the companies Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Studios. Here, we have the two main protagonists Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman who play Thor and Jane. This sequel was filmed in many locations such as Iceland for many of the scenes, Surrey, London, and Wiltshire. In July 2013, it was told that the film was about to head into reshoots this was explained that it was all a part of the "Marvel process" saying, "We're doing full scenes, scenes that were not in the movie before. We're adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time.

The budget for this film was a $150 million budget, which astonishingly brang in $268 million in foreign markets. Earning $181 million in America and $449 million worldwide.

For the post production of this film its visual effects were completed by seven special effects studios, including Double Negative and Luma Pictures. This toke so many different studios to capture the theme of a heroic and marvel comic atmosphere. As well as having special effects on the movie it also has its own music soundtrack where, Azam Ali will be a featured vocalist on the CD. The soundtrack is scheduled to be released digitally on October 28, 2013.

The Dark World premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square London on October 22nd. Its worldwide release on October 30, 2013, and is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2013, in the United States.

Distribution

In March 2013, Marvel announced the release of a two-issue comic book prelude by writers Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost and artist Scot Eaton in June 2013 about the sequel to Thor , this being a great sneak peak and way to engage the audience and let them know about the synopsis of the story.

The marketing has decided to do a synergy with Disney who announced plans to promote the film with an attraction at Disneyland. The attraction called "Treasures of Asgard", located next to the Stark Industries exhibit inside Tomorrow land, is scheduled to open on November 1, 2013 and will feature displays of Asgardian relics and transport guests to Odin's throne room, where they will be greeted by Thor.
